Suggested Itinerary
Day 01
Juneau, Alaska’s capital, is the largest and most cosmopolitan city in Southeast Alaska (population of 29,000). There are many gift shops, tours to Mendenhall Glacier, see the city, visit the Red Dog Saloon.
Day 02
The North and South Sawyer glaciers are near the head of Tracy Arm, which is 26 miles from our anchoring in an unnamed bay. They are both glaciers that are calving. We will carefully navigate our way between ice flows and icebergs while picking up glacier ice for the ice chest on our Alaska yacht rental. Beautiful waterfalls and towering stone walls line either side of the arm.
Day 03
Cannery Cove, located on the east side of Admiralty Island, was the site of a cannery in the 1920s. It is a beautiful setting where we will crab and watch for bear feeding along the shore at low tide.
Day 04
Snug Cove, located in Gambier Bay, is another favorite. It is well protected from winds and is perfect for kayaking as well as bear-watching. Gambier Bay has many small coves among the islets and reefs and is worth exploring.
Day 05
You must visit Baran of Warm Springs. It contains natural hot springs as well as a sizable, gorgeous 100-foot waterfall. We’ll travel to the lake via the boardwalk and trail and relax near to the falls in the hot springs. We can hook up to a 250-foot public float there.
Day 06
The most beautiful combination of mountains, waterfalls, and ice fields is undoubtedly in Red Bluff Bay. We’ll set our camp close to Bear Meadow, a mud flat that’s currently drying.
Day 07
Bay Bear Bay is one of the most sheltered anchorages around. Once inside through the narrow entrance, it seems totally landlocked. This is also a really protected bay where we can kayak.
Day 08
Sitka is the oldest and, what most people consider to be the most beautiful city in Southeast Alaska. See the city and visit the National Historic Park, which is the site of a Tlingit Indian Fort and had a large collection of Haida and Tlingit totem poles.
