New
England Yacht Charters - THE
SIX STATES of New England form the most compact and most accessible
region in the United States. It's easy to see all six states on
one vacation, but you can also spend a week in just one place
on your charter yacht. One state, Rhode Island, can fit in your
coat pocket; the others -- Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont,
New Hampshire, Maine -- can fit inside Oklahoma and still leave
room to stretch out.
When Emily Dickinson wrote,
"I think New Englandy," we sense what she means. It
has to do with small towns, ingenuity, self-reliance, rugged individualism.
It's variety, too. New England's
identities are many. It's the arty and culturally rejuvenated
city of Providence. It's the serenity of the Cape Cod National
Seashore. It's the skyscraping granite peaks of New Hampshire's
White Mountains. It's the booming biotech world of Boston. It's
the jagged rocky coast of Andrew Wyeth's Maine. It's Irish. It's
Italian. It's Vietnamese. It's Haitian. It's Cambodian. It's Portuguese.

Plan your charters around one
of the many festivals offered during the summer, but leave the
shoreside crowds behind by escaping to your private yacht. Go
beachcombing or bike riding and walk through sand dunes and grassy
meadows. Try a little fishing. All of these activities and more
are available in fleet of yachts. Embark in Newport, RI, home
to classic schooners, 12-meter America's Cup challengers and megayachts.
Plan a charter around the time of the legendary Newport Folk or
Jazz Festivals. Visit the mansions of the Vanderbilts and Astors.
Then, cruise to funky, fun Block Island. Enjoy a lower key atmosphere.
Block Island is like the resort you went to as a child. Then it's
on to Martha's Vineyard, anchoring at Edgartown, with its picturesque
lighthouse entrance, charming town and nearby sandy beach. Tour
the island, do a little hiking, explore the galleries and shops.
Historic Nantucket offers walking tours and a Whaling Museum celebrating
its importance as the capital of the U.S. whaling industry in
the 18th and 19th centuries. New England charm, first rate galleries,
magnificent shopping may all be enjoyed. Leave towns and crowds
behind while anchoring at Cuttyhunk. The Vineyard Sound beaches
are not to be missed here.
